Best known for their broken wing act, this plover can be found almost anywhere, though they do prefer shorelines. About 9" in length.
Killdeer will lead you away from their ground nest and babies with the trusty old broken-wing act.
Their chicks are little chips-off-the-old-block. You'll be lucky to see them though; they dart quickly into cover and remain motionless even when you get within inches.
