2005 Features:
Returning entertainment to be announced.

The resemblance between the Alps of Europe and the Wallowa Mountains inspired another connection to the Old World. Every autumn since 1974, a Swiss-Bavarian festival is staged in the traditional Oktoberfest style. Forging another link with the Alps, the celebration is called Alpenfest.

A 1930s hunting lodge (now renamed Edelweiss Inn) is lavishly decorated and equipped with bandstand, dance floor and dining area.

Custom made German sausage and specially prepared sauerkraut complement the beers and wines offered.

Outside the hall is a maze of food and open air booths, displays and demonstrations of woodworking, homemade pies, handmade candles, paintings, furniture, jewelry, ceramics and more.

Alpenfest accents include an alphorn blowing contest and hearty blueberry pancake breakfasts.

The entertainment at Alpenfest is star-quality. Past entertainment has included world famous yodelers Lisa Ward and Sandy Gernhart have thrilled lucky audiences for years. Acts include Al Schwend and The Polkatones, from Tillamook, Happy Hans, from Seattle, the Tirolean Dancers and Bavarian Dancers (pictured above) from the Willamette Valley and the Rocky Mountain Duo, from Canada. Performances occur Friday night, Saturday afternoon and night, and at the Sunday matinee show.

In 2002, Kerry Christensen with his world class musical talent and artistry entertained all at Alpenfest.  During each performance Kerry often tells the story behind each song, and explains the history and meaning of what he sings.  This helps heighten the enjoyment of Kerry's talent.  Kerry travels around the country performing alpine and cowboy yodeling year 'round.  He appeared for seven years at Epcot Center.  He has traveled to Canada, Europe, the Caribbean and the Pacific entertaining at Octoberfests, fairs and cruises.

Dancers always gain rapt audience attention during dance exhibitions, then reward spectators with clever and hilarious antics in novelty performances. The same colorful dancers often waltz, and polka with enthusiasts as the band plays authentic and modern tunes.

Hear Swiss music yodeled through the crisp alpine air as notes echo through the Wallowa Mountains..... Alpenfest. It is pure magic.
